On July 31st, alchemia-nova showcased their latest work on the RURBANIVE project to an international audience at UNIDO as part of the 3rd Partnership for Action on Green Economy (PAGE) Green Industry Summer School in Vienna. This event brought together leading experts, companies, and agencies to discuss innovative approaches to the circular bioeconomy.

Christine Bertl, Circular Bioeconomy Scientist and Project Manager at alchemia-nova, was invited as a guest speaker to present a case study on circular products, services, and business models developed by alchemia-nova.

The program featured a series of presentations from various speakers, a roundtable on the circular economy, and an exhibition showcasing products and services related to sustainable practices from companies and PAGE agencies. Participants had multiple networking opportunities, including a social dinner.

Attendees from over 30 countries, including industry professionals, policymakers, and sustainability advocates, formed a diverse audience united by a common goal: advancing innovative and sustainable practices on a global scale.

Alchemia-nova’s presentation provided a comprehensive overview of lessons learned from completed projects and insights from ongoing EU-Horizon projects in the circular bioeconomy, such as RURBANIVE. During the session, synergies between related projects like FUTURAL and RURBANIVE were highlighted, showcasing similarities in their methodologies and approaches.

Christine Bertl detailed how these projects work together to enhance awareness of the circular bioeconomy in both urban and rural settings, offering innovative solutions that can be applied across different environments. The presentation shared best practices, challenges, and strategies, providing actionable insights for broader application.

A key highlight was the introduction of the upcoming RURBANIVE Open Call, inviting participants to engage directly with the project and contribute to advancing the circular bioeconomy. Following the presentation, an open discussion allowed attendees to ask questions and engage in a lively exchange of ideas.

The event transitioned to a booth setup where participants could explore alchemia-nova’s projects in greater detail, gather additional information, and continue conversations with the alchemia-nova team. The discussions underscored a deep interest in replicating and adapting the project’s methodologies in different environments.

This international platform facilitated new connections and potential partnerships, furthering alchemia-nova’s mission of advancing sustainable and circular economy practices on a global scale. The rich exchange of ideas sparked innovative thinking and provided valuable insights into the practical challenges and opportunities of applying circular economy principles worldwide.
