The Kedainiai district has an area of: 1677 km2 and a population of 45.889 and is one of the economically strongest regions of Lithuania with the chemical and food industries and agriculture being especially developed. The district is a production hub of mineral fertilisers, sulfuric and phosphoric acids and other chemical industry products, sauces, ice cream, sugar, preserves, meat products, grain, milk processing, baking of bread and cake products, leather working, production of metal structures, agricultural implements and their parts, wood processing industry. The biggest centre of industry is Kedainiai. It’s well known that private investments greatly improve the success of town development. Taking that into account, one of the major projects implemented by the municipality, in order to create a favorable business environment, was the creation of engineering infrastructure in Kedainiai Free Economic Zone. Its total area is over 130 hectares. The territory is equipped with all necessary engineering infrastructure for businesses to start up and operate.

Partner’s role in the project

RURBANIVEs added value towards urban-rural synergies and the development of wellbeing economy. Through the enabler user engagement, empowerment, society and territorial awareness we aim to help citizens and entrepreneurs to seize new opportunities such as innovative and sustainable economic models, economies of well-being etc. This is a crucial step. A flagship action on research and innovation for rural communities aims to help tackle the challenges for fulfilling rural potential.

  • Ecosystem Building & Engagement.

Through WP6 Synergies, policies, and governance KDM is engaged in:

  • Policy conclusions and recommendations to policymakers and stakeholders.
